City Knoll Middle School

A Higher Ground for Learning

We celebrate successes, no matter how big or small.

Units of Study are aligned to the NYC and NYS Scope and Sequence for Science and includes teacher created materials. Hands-on scientific inquiry is at the heart of our science classrooms.

City Knoll has partnered with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project to support students in developing their literacy skills. This goal is accomplished through research, curriculum development, and through working shoulder-to-shoulder with students, teachers, and school leaders.

Art instruction is provided to all students and includes teacher-created units of study that incorporate elements and principles of art, as well as the integration of content area learning according to the NYC Blueprint for the Arts in Visual Arts. Partnerships with the Museum of Modern Art and the Morgan Book Arts Project support our commitment to the arts.

The Connected Mathematics Project (3) is the core curriculum that will be used to support students in developing a conceptual understanding of the grade level standards.  CMP is a problem-centered curriculum promoting an inquiry-based teaching-learning classroom environment. The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) and the Standards for Mathematical Practice are embedded within each problem.
