CHAMPS
City Knoll Middle School is a proud participant of CHAMPS!
The CHAMPS Sports and Fitness Program is an initiative of the New York City Department of Education that promotes student physical activity. The primary goal is to lead efforts for students and their families to be healthy, active, and engaged. The name CHAMPS derives from the initials of the five characteristics that describe our participants: Cooperative, Healthy, Active, Motivated and Positive Students. CHAMPS enables middle school students of all abilities the opportunity to participate in fun, supervised, non-competitive physical activity and sports programs before and after school.
Coached by DOE teachers, CHAMPS programs can help students stay active and practice the skills learned in physical education, individually and in team play. As a CHAMPS Coach, our physical education teacher is required to be CPR trained and regularly attend professional development.
